ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Police say a 17-year-old woman was killed after falling from a window of a moving SUV.

The Fort Worth Star Telegram reports (https://bit.ly/1tpadof ) that Lelys Leyva-Monreal of Arlington was found lying in the road at about 2:45 a.m. Saturday with three people attending to her.

Police spokeswoman Tiara Richard said officers later determined that five people were riding in the SUV when Leyva-Monreal began hanging out an open window.

Richard said one of the victim’s friends is believed to have tried to pull her back inside. After falling, Leyva-Monreal was hit by the SUV.

The driver stopped and let out three other passengers, but subsequently drove away. Alcohol is being investigated as a factor in the incident.

Leyva-Monreal died a short time later at Medical Center of Arlington.
