NEW PALTZ, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a fatal shooting in a Hudson Valley bar over the weekend appears to be related to previous conflicts between the people involved.
New Paltz Police Chief Joseph Snyder says Monday that no arrest has been made, but there’s not “an active shooter running around town.” Snyder says police believe the people involved knew each other and the shooting was related to incidents in Poughkeepsie.
Police say 29-year-old Ryan Gray of Poughkeepsie was killed around 2 a.m. Sunday at Murphy’s Restaurant and Pub in New Paltz. A 26-year-old woman whose name wasn’t released was reported in stable condition with a gunshot wound.
The tavern is popular with students at SUNY New Paltz, but officials say no students were involved.
