LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Monday marks the deadline for Arkansans to register to vote in next month’s primary election.

As of last Friday, the state had more than 1.6 million registered voters. That’s up from 1.5 million at the same time in 2012 and about the same as voter numbers from 2010.

According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (https://bit.ly/QzyPeQ ), the latest registration numbers include more than 70,000 Democrats, about 59,000 Republicans, 125 Libertarians and 19 members of the Green Party.

The majority of registered voters did not list a party affiliation. Arkansas’ open primary system allows voters to cast ballots in either party’s preferential primary but they must vote in the same party’s runoff election if one occurs.
