MATOAKA, W.Va. (AP) - A fire that started in an unoccupied apartment building in downtown Matoaka spread to other buildings, ultimately destroying five.

The Register-Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1oTgXJz) each of the burned buildings had active businesses on their ground floors.

Firefighters said there wasn’t enough water available to quickly fight the fire. Firefighters had to draft water from a creek that runs through the town.

Matoaka Police Chief John Sommers says an investigation is underway and he believes the fire was intentionally set.

Four arrests were also made at the scene.

Police arrested two men for felony obstruction of a firefighter, obstructing a police officer, assault and battery of a police officer and resisting arrest.

Matoaka police also arrested two others on drug charges.
