DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) - The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a driver in Dickinson hit the front swing arm of a parked excavator Saturday morning.

The Patrol on Sunday said 25-year-old Antonio Redshirt was driving westbound on Cove Circuit around 4:15 a.m. when he struck the excavator head on.

Redshirt and passenger 24-year-old Tyron Redshirt, both of Dickinson, were transported to a local hospital. The severity of their injuries was not immediately clear. The Patrol says neither was wearing a seatbelt.

The driver was cited for driving under the influence. His 1994 Ford F150 was totaled.

The Patrol says weather conditions at the time of the incident were foggy. The crash is under investigation.
