JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Supreme Court was hearing oral arguments Monday in Rebecca Lynn Jones’ appeal of her murder conviction in the shooting death of her mother.

Rebecca Jones, of Lexington, Alabama, was sentenced to life in prison in 2013 after a trial in Prentiss County.

Prosecutors say 66-year-old Jane Jones died at a Tupelo hospital after being found May 11, 2010, at her home east of Booneville with gunshot wounds to the stomach and upper right arm.

Rebecca Jones argues in court documents that her mother was shot during a struggle over a gun and her mother was shot. Prosecutors say there was no evidence of a struggle in the house.
