RICHLAND, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say the body found washed up on a beach on Lake Ontario’s eastern shoreline is that of a western New York teenager who apparently drowned while swimming.

State police say her body was spotted around 4 p.m. Sunday by two campers at Brennan’s Beach Campground in the Oswego County town of Richland, 35 miles north of Syracuse.

The campers pulled her from the water and called 911. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene a short time later.

Troopers say she has been identified as 17-year-old Anna-Rose Shove of the Wayne County town of Ontario, near Rochester. Police say she had been camping at Brennan’s Beach with her family and went to the beach alone around noon Sunday.

The Investigation is continuing.
