STRATFORD, Conn. (AP) - Stratford police say a customer inside a convenience store was shot and injured while intervening in an armed robbery.

Police say the suspect entered the store with a handgun on Saturday night and demanded money from the clerk.

The customer struck the suspect with an object when he was not looking and as the suspect turned, the gun went off and grazed the customer in the shoulder. The injuries were considered minor.

Police say the suspect left the store after a violent struggle in which his gun was taken away. Police are asking anyone with information on the case to call the Stratford detective bureau.
