OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) - Heavy rains left parts of Opelika underwater.

The National Weather Service says slow-moving thunderstorms dumped as much as 3 inches of rain in the Opelika and Mount Jefferson areas on Monday.

Runoff from the rainfall caused flash flooding in parts of the city.

City officials say about a half-dozen main road were covered by water, and flooding occurred on numerous streets in neighborhoods. Police asked drivers to stay off the road.

No injuries were reported, and forecasters say the problems shouldn’t last long.
