THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - Lafourche Parish Council will discuss an amendment to its vicious and dangerous dog ordinance at its Tuesday night meeting.

The Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1lOGLSS ) the ordinance changes the definition of what makes an animal dangerous or vicious and alters registration and breeding restrictions for those animals.

Councilman John Arnold, the author of the ordinance, said this is essentially an amendment of a bill that was voted down in May.

The original ordinance would have mandated an annual $25 permit fee for owners of animals deemed dangerous or vicious.

In the amended ordinance, the definition of a dangerous animal will include any animal previously declared dangerous by a court or complaint jurisdiction.
