KINGSTREE, S.C. (AP) - A man that authorities say fired a shot at a state trooper during a traffic stop near Kingstree has turned himself in.

Williamsburg County deputies told local media outlets that 32-year-old Dwayne Brown was accompanied by his lawyer when he surrendered Sunday evening.

Investigators say the trooper pulled Brown over around 1:30 a.m. Sunday and asked him to get out of the car.

Deputies say Brown began to fight with the trooper and fired one shot that missed the officer.

Authorities say the trooper was not injured.

Brown is charged with attempted murder.
