ATASCOSA, Texas (AP) - Authorities say three adults and two children were injured when a pickup rammed into the back of a donkey-drawn wagon in a rural town southwest of San Antonio.

A Bexar County Sheriff spokesman says a 70-year-old man was giving a wagon ride to four passengers on Saturday in Atascosa when it was hit. He says the driver and a 3-year-old boy were critically injured and transported to University Hospital.

A 62-year-old man, a 42-year-old man and a 6-year-old girl were also hospitalized. Their conditions are unreported.

The spokesman says the pickup driver didn’t stop after the crash. Witnesses followed him and reported his location to authorities.

He says the man left the truck and hid in the woods before being arrested.

Police haven’t released the victims’ and driver’s names.
