COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Boone County officials have arrested a man who they say escaped from police after a high-speed chase over the weekend.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/VbUGLv ) the 23-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning at his house in Columbia.

The county sheriff’s department says deputies attempted a traffic stop Saturday afternoon because of an outstanding warrant. They say the man led police on a high-speed chase. They say he abandoned his vehicle in a field before escaping arrest.

He is being held in the Boone County jail on $6,000 bond. Online jail records didn’t indicate if charges have been filed.
