ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) - Stearns County deputies say a 55-year-old man has drowned in the Sauk River in central Minnesota.

Police received a call Sunday about 12:45 p.m. that a man was found in the river in St. Cloud. They say he’d been pulled onto shore but was unresponsive and blue.

Daniel LeRoy Snively was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities don’t suspect foul play, and say alcohol may have been a contributing factor.

Deputies say Snively had been with friends in a nearby apartment complex before walking into the river and swimming in shallow water. His friends went looking for him after they hadn’t seen him for some time.

The Ramsey County medical examiner’s office is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
