TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Tuscaloosa police say a 14-year-old boy is in critical condition after being shot in his chest.

Sgt. Dale Phillips says a 15-year-old boy told investigators he was with friends playing with a pistol Friday night when he pulled the trigger and wounded the boy who had walked in front of him.

Authorities say the wounded teen was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa and was transferred to Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham.

Phillips says the teen is expected to survive, and the shooting is still under investigation.
