ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AP) - The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down briefly in Muskingum County. No one was hurt.

The Columbus Dispatch reports (bit.ly/1sPIu00) the tornado touched down for less than a minute around 3 p.m. Monday near Route 16 at the intersection with Old Riley Road, east of Frazeysburg.

Weather service spokesman Rodney Smith says the tornado is believed to have had winds of about 70 mph. It hit a cornfield and brought down a tree branch on a house.
