SACKETS HARBOR, N.Y. (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard crew has conducted a medical evacuation for a woman who became ill while sailing in Canadian waters on Lake Ontario.

Officials say the Coast Guard Station at Sackets Harbor, New York received a distress call around 10:30 a.m. Sunday from a Canadian sailboat located near Main Duck Island in eastern Lake Ontario.

A Coast Guard response boat arrived on the scene and transported the woman to the island, where she was transferred to a Canadian rescue helicopter and taken to a hospital in Kingston, Ontario. Information on her condition wasn’t available.

The Coast Guard responded to several emergencies in the region over the weekend.

Coast Guard crews rescued five individuals in two separate incidents Friday and Saturday on the St. Lawrence River.
