ATLANTA (AP) - Coca-Cola is suing a company that allows customers to use debit or credit cards to purchase items from vending machines over nearly $1 million in fees.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Coca-Cola recently filed a lawsuit in federal court in Atlanta. Coca-Cola Refreshments, the Atlanta-based company’s bottling and fountain operations division, says USA Technologies Inc. of Malvern, Pa. continued collecting monthly fees on vending machines after the two firms parted ways two years ago (https://on-ajc.com/1Aa9xWq).

USA Technologies was responsible for servicing the card devices and processing transactions. It’s not clear how many machines it managed.

The lawsuit says that USA Technologies received 5 percent of vending machines’ monthly proceeds and a percentage for processing transactions. The newspaper reports that the company did not return a request for comment.
