CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The parents of University of Wyoming punter Ethan Wood were killed in a weekend plane crash in Iowa.

John Joseph Wood, 53, and Resia Lynn Wood, 51, were flying from Michigan to their home in Colorado Springs when they were killed on Saturday, the Wyoming Tribune Eagle reported Tuesday ( ). The couple were in Michigan to visit another son, Josh, a defensive backs coach at Michigan Tech.

The Woods had five children.

Wyoming football coach Craig Bohl said Monday he doesn’t know when Ethan Wood, a sophomore, will return to the team.

Wood averaged 42 yards per punt last season, with 13 punts downed inside the 20-yard line. He had 40 kickoffs, 21 of them for touchbacks.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash near Russell, about 50 miles southeast of Des Moines. The Federal Aviation Administration has said the single-engine RV-7A aircraft lost radar contact prior to the crash.
