BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a teenager has been killed and three others are recovering after they were hit by gunfire near a footbridge over a Buffalo highway.

Police say four young males were shot around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Oakmont Avenue bridge that spans Route 33 on the city’s east side. Officials say 14-year-old Raymond Patterson III died and the other three were released from the hospital after being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Mayor Byron Brown says the shooting started with a fight between two girls at a nearby park, then escalated into someone firing a gun into the crowd. Police say the victims weren’t involved in the fight.

No arrests have been reported. Police are looking for a lone male suspect, believed to be in his 20s.
