SHAWANO, Wis. (AP) - A two-term sheriff in Wisconsin has lost his job to a police officer who shares a last name with a pop star.

Officer Adam Bieber (BEE’-ber) defeated Shawano County Sheriff Randy Wright in Tuesday’s primary election. Bieber says he was surprised that sharing a last name with singer Justin Bieber gave his campaign attention outside of Shawano County.

WSAW-TV (https://bit.ly/1oJ8fZO ) says Bieber’s campaign signs generated some publicity from the entertainment news website TMZ.

Bieber will run uncontested during general election Nov. 4.
