TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) - The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians is giving more than $600,000 of gambling revenue to local organizations in northern Michigan.

WPBN-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1oKq5Rj ) the tribal council has awarded 37 organizations with 2 percent of its video gambling revenue. The tribal council received 80 applications totaling more than $2 million in requests in July.

The Grand Traverse Band has given more than $32 million since it first began the 2 percent allocation in 1994.

Recipients include public school districts in Traverse City, Suttons Bay, Northport and Elk Rapids. Fire departments in Blair Township, Glen Lake and Leland Township also made the list.
