MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) - Mount Pleasant police have released the name of the 36-year-old man who was killed after walking into oncoming traffic.

The Morning Sun (https://bit.ly/VlJwDO ) reports that Kevin McPherson of Sears died after trying to cross the street Sunday night. He was hit by a car driven by an 86-year-old man from Six Lakes.

Police say a witness told them that McPherson did not look for traffic before crossing the street. The witness says the man was nearly hit by another vehicle immediately before the accident.

McPherson was taken to a local hospital and later transported to another, where he died.

Police say they believe McPherson was homeless and had been staying in Mount Pleasant for about a month.

McPherson’s relatives have been notified of his death.
