OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) - A 250 foot stretch of front Beach sidewalk in Ocean Springs will finally be repaired. A few months a high tide event caused the sidewalk to crumble into the choppy waters of the Mississippi Sound.

WLOX TV reports (https://bit.ly/1vI0sW5 ) the board of aldermen voted Wednesday to award a $46,000 contract to Landmark Contracting of Gulfport for the repair project. Work should begin by the end of this month and be completed within 30 days.

The alderman also expressed concerns about coming up with a regular maintenance fund for the Front Beach sidewalk. They worry the city could be caught short once again when more damage happens on the sidewalk. They instructed the city clerk to come back with some type of funding mechanism at their next meeting.
