CODY, Wyo. (AP) - Bridger Wireless has canceled plans to build a cellphone tower between Cody and Powell.

The Cody Enterprise reported Wednesday (https://bit.ly/1oJCEHA) that the company said it was unaware of plans for another tower about 10,000 feet from its proposed site.

Derek Dye, Bridger Wireless’ vice president of business development, told Cody city planner Becky Ross in a letter that building a second tower 12 miles north of Cody would be redundant.

Some area residents had opposed the tower’s construction, saying it would hurt the values of their property.

Park County Commission Chairman Bucky Hall said the city received the letter from Bridger Wireless on Tuesday.
