ALBANY, Ore. (AP) - Sheriff Bruce Riley of Linn County, Oregon, says detectives arrested a 47-year-old man after discovering a marijuana growing operation on private timberland owned by Weyerhaeuser.

Riley said Wednesday that detectives seized nearly 2,000 marijuana plants from three different growing plots, and the operation damaged land and streams near the community of Lacomb.

Louis Alfonso Arellano-Arellano was booked into jail on drug charges as well as accusations of criminal mischief and littering in or near a waterway.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement determined he is in the country illegally and placed a hold on him.
