ALBANY, Ore. (AP) - A charge of animal abuse has been filed against a Sweet Home, Oregon, man who is accused of seriously injuring a dog that was later put down.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says the 5-year-old pit bull mix suffered a broken back and hips after being thrown to the ground. Animal control officers were informed of the incident Aug. 5, when someone reported that they learned through Facebook that a dog had been put down because of injuries.

According to The Register-Guard (https://is.gd/kTtUjR ), the dog’s owner told investigators that his brother - 27-year-old Brandon Clark - threw the dog in anger after it nipped at another dog while it was eating. Investigators then spoke with Brandon Clark and he was charged this week.
