LYNDONVILLE, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a tractor-trailer exceeded the maximum height of a covered bridge and caused damage to the structure while trying to pass through it.

Police said the accident happened in Lyndonville at about 7 a.m. Wednesday. The driver also did not stop.

Police eventually found and cited 48-year-old Mario Baulanger of St. Norbert, Quebec, on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident. He’s scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 29. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.
