OBERLIN, La. (AP) - A trial date has been set next month for an Oberlin couple charged in the 2013 death of the woman’s toddler daughter.

The American Press reports (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb ) Brandi Holyfield and boyfriend Bobby J. Davis Jr. are scheduled to stand trial Sept. 22 on charges of second-degree murder and criminal conspiracy to commit second-degree murder in the death of 2-year-old Tatiana Holyfield.

A grand jury indicted the couple on the charges in June 2013.

Allen Parish Sheriff Doug Hebert III says the toddler suffered third-degree burns to her back from what investigators say may have been caused by prolonged contact with an electric heater found in the home.

Holyfield remains in the parish jail on $100,000 bond. Davis was released last November on the same bond.
