WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) - The Williston city commission has filled an open seat created when Howard Klug was elected mayor.

The Williston Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1ywJypg) that Deanette Piesik was selected from a pool of 16 candidates. Her term will run until June 2016.

Piesik worked for 15 years at Williston State College for a work force training program known as TrainND. The program has served thousands of workers in the oil patch.

The board earlier voted to accept applications from residents to fill the position rather than hold a special election or appoint the commission candidate who finished third in in the June election.
