DETROIT (AP) - Officials are closing two lanes of Interstate 94 because of pavement buckling that may be related to this week’s heavy rains and flooding.

The Detroit News and WWJ-AM report the closure Thursday will affect the right two lanes of the eastbound freeway at Warren Avenue on the city’s east side.

The freeway had been reopened Wednesday in the area, along with all other area freeways. But MDOT spokeswoman Diane Cross says the repair work will leave one lane of traffic open. Motorists that use the roadway are encouraged to take alternate routes.
