OSSINING, N.Y. (AP) - State police say two people who were visiting inmates at Sing Sing have been arrested on contraband charges.

They say a woman from the Bronx gave some cash to an inmate. They say a man from Newark, New Jersey, was carrying a pocket knife before his visit with another inmate.

The arrests at the maximum security state prison occurred less than an hour apart on Saturday.

The suspects were identified as Evalina Anderson of the Bronx and Jaahan Mitchell of Newark.

Both were charged with promoting prison contraband and are due in Ossining Village Court on Tuesday.

Neither the police nor the court had information on whether the defendants have lawyers.
