CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - House Speaker Tim Miley has appointed five delegates to serve on the West Virginia Intergovernmental Task Force on Juvenile Justice.

Miley made the announcement Thursday.

He says that between 1997 and 2011, West Virginia had the largest increase in juvenile commitment rates of any state in the country.

The five delegates Miley appointed will work with the Pew Charitable Trusts to examine what can be changed within the state’s juvenile justice system to reduce the incarceration rate.

Those named to the task force are House Judiciary Chairman Tim Manchin, Del. Stephen Skinner, Del. Isaac Sponaugle, Del. Bill Hamilton and Del. Carol Miller.
