BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - Police say a 21-year-old Billings man died when he lost control of the dirt bike he was riding and was struck by a sport-utility vehicle near Lake Elmo.

The Billings Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1uwxeaY0 ) the man skidded across the road Wednesday night and was run over by the vehicle.

Dave Cardillo of the Billings Police Department says the investigation is continuing but the collision appears to be a tragic accident.

Cardillo says the dirt bike rider did not have a license, the bike wasn’t registered and should not have been on the street.

The man was not identified. Authorities say the investigation is continuing and an autopsy will be conducted.
