LOUISVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Police in Louisville hope to beef up enforcement technology by obtaining an automatic fingerprint system.

Police Chief L.M. Claiborne tells WCBI-TV (https://bit.ly/1sZoO94 ) he is seeking grant funding for the system.

Claiborne says equipment and software would cost about $650,000.

He says the system would streamline communication between law enforcement jurisdictions when attempting to identify or locate a criminal suspect.

Claiborne says Choctaw, Montgomery, Webster, Yazoo and other Mississippi counties also have expressed interest in the project.
