NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Orange County health officials say a beach along Newport Bay is closed for swimming and diving after a sewage spill.

Larry Honeybourne with the Orange County Healthcare Agency says about 50 gallons of sewage was spilled Wednesday from a boat into the water at a dock near Bayside Drive Beach.

Honeybourne tells the Los Angeles Times (https://lat.ms/1sGgvRX) the beach is expected to remain closed for at least two days, or until testing shows that bacteria has returned to acceptable levels.
