LELAND, Miss. (AP) - Washington County officials hope a new 475-acre industrial site will help attract industry to Leland.

The Delta Democrat-Times reports (https://bit.ly/VlyEG1) that officials unveiled the site Monday.

Leland Mayor Kenny Thomas says the location near the intersection of U.S. 61 and U.S. 82 should make the land attractive.

In March, officials announced the proposed 795-acre Greenpointe Industrial Park in Greenville.

Before the land is ready for building, officials need to survey for archaeological remains and wetlands.

Mississippi Development Authority Deputy Director Jim McArthur, who attended the announcement, says he and local officials will meet with consultants to market the location to prospective tenants.
