COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The Ohio Democratic Party is suing Gov. John Kasich (KAY’-sik) and his running mate over access to records between the lieutenant governor and her top aide who resigned in June.

Republican Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor’s chief of staff and the aide’s assistant resigned after irregularities were discovered in their timesheets.

Democrats requested Taylor’s schedule in June, along with correspondence between Taylor and the aide and correspondence between the aide and assistant.

The administration turned over the schedule in July but said the correspondence request was overly broad and needed clarification. Democrats contend otherwise.

Republicans have filed a public records lawsuit in the same court, trying to force Kasich’s Democratic challenger to release key-card data showing when he enters and leaves county buildings and parking facilities as Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) County executive.
