CONWAY, Ark. (AP) - Schools in two central Arkansas communities devastated by an April tornado have received donations of school supplies from a local hospital.

The Log Cabin Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/1Bh7a5x ) that Conway Regional Medical Center held a drive to collect supplies for schools in Mayflower and Vilonia.

Mayflower Elementary School Principal Candie Watts says 26 students at her school are still homeless after the April 27 tornado. She says the school gets lots of requests for assistance and the school supplies will be very helpful.

Medical center employee CJ Newton says employees at the hospital were personally affected by the tornado and also treated victims afterward. She says the hospital employees have a drive every year and usually donate supplies to a Conway school, but this year they decided to help Mayflower and Vilonia.
