SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Prosecutors have charged a Utah man with murder after police say he killed his 70-year-old father earlier this month.

The 29-year-old Christopher Robbins appeared Wednesday in 3rd District Court. It was not immediately clear Thursday if he had an attorney.

Unified Police say officers on Aug. 1. found Dennis Robbins unresponsive with blunt trauma in a Millcreek home. They were responding to a report of domestic violence.

Charging documents show officers found a metal bar on the floor nearby.

Police say the brother of Christopher Robbins said he awoke to screams from his father, then saw Christopher Robbins removing latex gloves as he left the older man’s bedroom.
