KEOSAUQUA, Iowa (AP) - County officials in southeast Iowa have shorten the treasurer’s office hours because of staffing issues.

The Van Buren County Board of Supervisors agreed Monday to shorten the days of operation for the county treasurer’s office in Keosauqua to Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. They say the regular schedule of five days a week will return in 2015.

The Burlington Hawk Eye reports (https://bit.ly/1BhUqeS ) the change will go into effect Monday.

Officials say only one employee is left in the office because the treasurer is on sick leave for several weeks and another employee resigned. Three former office employees are temporarily assisting the lone worker.
