CLINTON, Mass. (AP) - Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. says another inmate has been charged with murder in the prison beating death of a 72-year-old man serving a life sentence for murder.

Early said Thursday that 27-year-old Allan Erazo is expected to be arraigned in Clinton District Court on Friday in killing of William Sires.

The prosecutor said Erazo had been scheduled to be released next month after serving a two-year sentence for stabbing a cab driver in Chelsea. It is not immediately known who is representing him.

Early said Sires was found badly beaten in a cell on Tuesday in the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley. He was declared dead in an ambulance headed to a hospital.

Sires was convicted of murdering his mother in Pittsfield in 1973.
