SHEFFIELD, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Ethics Commission has levied a $500 administrative penalty to a member of the Sheffield Utilities Board for participating in a vote to donate $5,000 to a fundraising concert being produced by his company.

The TimesDaily reports (https://bit.ly/1pyrgTW ) board member David A. Johnson was found to have committed a minor violation of the Alabama Ethics Law and the commission had approved his request for an administrative resolution to the case.

Johnson tells the newspaper that “it’s one of those things I could have fought and maybe won,” adding “I did it and I won’t do it again.”
