HONOLULU (AP) - A pair of West Oahu brush fires disrupted traffic Thursday afternoon for westbound drivers on the H-1 freeway.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser (https://bit.ly/1nWkmTt) reports an alarm sounded at 12:25 p.m. for the first fire near the Makakilo off-ramp.

Honolulu Fire Department Capt. David Jenkins says the fire was declared contained at about 1 p.m.

The two right-bound lanes approaching the off-ramp were closed for more than an hour.

Firefighters also extinguished a small brush fire near the H-1 Kunia-Ewa Beach interchange. That fire was reported at 1:35 p.m. and contained at 2:09 p.m.
