PHOENIX (AP) - A federal appeals court that previously overturned Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer’s policy of denying driver’s licenses to some young immigrants is being asked to immediately block the policy though Brewer has requested reconsideration of the court’s ruling.

The request was filed Wednesday by attorneys challenging Brewer’s policy on behalf of young immigrants who have gotten work permits and avoided deportation under an Obama administration policy.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled July 7 that the immigrants were harmed by unequal treatment by the state.

The ruling ordered U.S. District Judge David Campbell to block the policy, but Campbell on Aug. 1 refused the challengers’ request for an injunction.

Campbell said the 9th Circuit’s ruling wasn’t yet final because Brewer had asked the appeals court to reconsider its decision.
