FORT CARSON, Colo. (AP) - Fort Carson soldiers say two comrades killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Staff Sgt. Benjamin G. Prange of Hickman, Nebraska, and Pfc. Keith Williams of Visalia, California, were honored Friday at a memorial service at the post outside Colorado Springs.

They were killed July 24 in Kandahar Province.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports (https://tinyurl.com/knv4kqe) Prange was praised as a quiet professional who cared deeply for the soldiers he commanded.

Williams’ buddies said he was smart and courageous and boosted everyone’s morale.

Both were members of the 4th Brigade Combat Team, part of the 4th Infantry Division. Their brigade was the last from Fort Carson serving in Afghanistan.

Maj. Gen. Paul LaCamera, commander of the 4th Infantry Division, attended the service.
