TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Highway Patrol says Interstate 275 in Tampa is now open following a fatal, wrong-way crash.

The crash happened about 2:30 a.m. Friday near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

The Tampa Tribune (https://bit.ly/1l8l45h ) reports a driver began traveling in the wrong lanes of nearby Interstate 4 and then headed north in the southbound lanes of I-275. The motorist died when his vehicle crashed head on with an ambulance.

The ambulance was not transporting a patient. It wasn’t immediately known whether the paramedics were injured.

No further details were immediately available.
