PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Three more communities have established committees to help celebrate South Dakota’s 125th anniversary of statehood.

Gov. Dennis Daugaard says committees have formed in Scotland, Plankinton and Menno. They’re planning various events in the lead-up to the Nov. 2 anniversary.

President Benjamin Harrison on Nov. 2, 1889, signed the admission papers for both South Dakota and North Dakota. North Dakota became the 39th state and South Dakota the 40th.
