ROBBINSVILLE, N.J. (AP) - They are the girls of summer.

Robbinsville turned out on Thursday to welcome home the team that won the Little League Softball World Series.

Their bus was given a police escort.

The Robbinsville team beat Bossier City, Louisiana, 4-1 after six straight victories in the tournament in Portland, Oregon. The win capped a 22-0 record.

Twelve-year-old catcher Shea Walsh tells the Times of Trenton (https://bit.ly/1yDPEEC ) it shows how much hard work pays off.

Coach Scott Veisz says they are a special group of girls who simply love to play.
