LEWISBORO, N.Y. (AP) - Residents are reeling after a woman was stabbed while walking a dog in a quiet Westchester County town.

The woman was grabbed from behind and stabbed repeatedly in the abdomen on Wednesday night in Lewisboro. Police say her injuries are not life-threatening.

Residents tell CBS New York (https://cbsloc.al/1mQjZKv ) that the area is not known for crime.

Brent Nyitray says city residents have migrated to the suburban area, giving it a “cool” atmosphere. He thinks of it as “hipster Mayberry” - a place where violence is “out of the question.”

New York State Crime Stoppers, in cooperation with state police, are offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
